These two dominate hourly couple stays, and almost every comparison you will find online is written by one of them. Here is the two-sided version, built from what each platform’s own site and terms actually say (checked July 2026), plus what users most often complain about.

• Age and backing: Brevistay is older (running since 2016, seed-funded by Indian Angel Network in 2022, and pitched on Shark Tank India season 2, where it left without a deal). Bag2Bag is younger (registered in Bengaluru in 2019) with a seed round announced in 2022.
• Booking model: Bag2Bag sells flexible hourly stays (1, 2, 3 hours and up) plus full 24-hour bookings. Brevistay sells fixed 3, 6 and 12 hour packs. If you want an odd-length stay, Bag2Bag; if a standard slot is fine, either.
• Scale claims: Bag2Bag claims 100+ cities and 10,000+ properties; Brevistay claims 200+ cities and 10,000+ hotels, though recent third-party profiles put its hotel count nearer 4,000. Treat both as marketing numbers.
• Paying: Bag2Bag states you can pay online or at the hotel. Brevistay offers pay-at-hotel on selected hotels only.
• IDs: both welcome unmarried couples and tag local-ID acceptance per listing. Brevistay is the more explicit on documents: DL, Voter ID, Passport or Aadhaar, originals only, and PAN cards are not accepted.

Are these apps legit? What the record shows

Is Bag2Bag legit? Yes. It is a registered Indian company (Bag2Bag Travels and Hospitality Services India Pvt Ltd, incorporated in Bengaluru in August 2019, per the company registry), announced seed funding from a US investor in January 2022, and runs Android and iOS apps with a large install base. We found no pattern of scam complaints. The honest watch-outs are the ones above: the reconfirmation clause in its terms, and refund maths that always loses the gateway fee.

Is Brevistay legit? Yes. It has operated since 2016, took a ₹3 crore seed round from Indian Angel Network in August 2022, and pitched on national television on Shark Tank India (season 2, episode 47, asking ₹1 crore for 1.66%; the sharks passed, but the numbers were aired and scrutinised). The recurring user complaint is real though: a confirmed booking being refused at the desk, with the platform’s policy saying it cannot refund a hotel-declined check-in. Users also report the bookable price sometimes running higher than the teaser price on the listing.

The protective habit for both is the same: filter for “Accepts Local ID,” then call the hotel and reconfirm the couple booking before you travel. Two minutes on the phone beats an argument in a lobby.

What about StayUncle?

StayUncle is the name people remember. It pioneered no-questions couple bookings around 2015 and earned real press for fighting hotel discrimination. But as of 2026 the evidence says the company is gone: Wikipedia lists its status as out of business, its Android app was last updated in 2019 and its Google Play listing no longer loads, its blog domain no longer resolves, and when we checked, the booking calendar on its still-live website defaulted to January 2018. We found no announcement of a shutdown, but we also found no sign of life for years.

The website still loads and still shows a search box, which is exactly why other guides keep recommending it. We do not. There is no way to verify a booking placed there today would be honoured, and with Bag2Bag and Brevistay serving the same need, there is no reason to gamble a night on it.

• A few hours in the daytime, cheaply? Brevistay.
• Chasing the lowest price or a small town? OYO, but confirm the property first.
• A dependable branded overnight? FabHotels.
• Whichever you pick: reconfirm the couple booking with the hotel by phone. Neither hourly app refunds a hotel-declined check-in.

One habit sits above the choice of app: whichever you open, filter for “Accepts Local ID” if both your IDs are from the same city, and carry original government photo ID for both of you. Is OYO safe to use for couples?

Yes, but with a caveat. OYO still runs a couple-welcome page and a Relationship Mode, but since a 2025 change, individual partner hotels can ask for relationship proof or decline at their discretion. It is fine for budget and availability if you confirm the specific property first.
